How the open pilot works

Week one: it starts listening

We help mount the sensors, about five minutes per machine, with no wiring and no downtime. Recording begins immediately and the machine starts building its own history rather than being compared to a generic threshold.

First weeks: it learns what normal is here

MIS establishes what this particular machine does on an ordinary day. Until it has enough of its own history to be sure, it says so instead of guessing. You can already scan any machine and ask it questions.

Ongoing: it speaks when there is something to say

When the machine reads a change in its own record it tells you, explains what it can and cannot see, and states what observation would settle the question. It stays quiet otherwise. Repairs you log get measured against what happened afterwards.

After 12 months: nothing is taken away

Monitoring and every recording feature stay free permanently. Only the intelligence layer becomes a paid option, and your machine history is preserved either way.

Two devices, one price to join

Both write to the same machine record and both cost $49 to join the open pilot. The difference is how they are powered, which decides what they can sense continuously.

Mains powered

Best where a power outlet is near the machine.

  • Vibration, sound and surface temperature, recorded continuously
  • Senses when people are working around the machine and when the area is empty, with no camera and no recording of anyone
  • Never has to ration what it senses, because power is not a constraint
  • Keeps recording through network outages and uploads when the link returns

Battery powered

Best where there is no outlet nearby, or on machines you would rather not wire into.

  • Everything Gen 1 records: vibration, sound and surface temperature
  • Sleeps while the machine is idle and wakes to record continuously while it works
  • Reports its own battery health so cells get replaced on your schedule
  • Also watches temperature and humidity around the machine
  • One trade: continuous presence sensing is held back on battery, because running it constantly costs more power than the deployment can afford. Gen 1.5 v2 removes that trade

Whichever device a machine gets, the evidence lands in the same place and the machine reasons the same way. Outright purchase prices apply only outside the open pilot.

Monitoring stays free permanently, with every recording and tracking feature active. Only the intelligence layer becomes a paid option after 12 months, and your machine history is preserved either way. Nothing you have accumulated is held hostage.

If you would rather buy hardware outright

Outside the open pilot, devices are sold directly: $69 per Gen 1 device, which runs from a wall outlet, and $99 per Gen 1.5 device, which runs on battery for machines with no outlet nearby. The open pilot is the cheaper route into the platform.

No. It observes and reports. It never sends commands to equipment and never changes how a machine runs. The person on the ground decides what to do.

No, and we will not claim otherwise. It tells you when something in a machine has changed relative to its own history, what the plausible explanations are, and what observation would rule each one out. Naming a failure date is not something it can honestly do today.
